In one of our most significant upgrades yet, we’ve added several powerful AI features that allow you to translate in new ways, including an enterprise-grade Language Quality Assessment (LQA) Suite and a long awaited connectivity module for Business Intelligence tools.
This Fall Release is focused on providing technology that removes complexity to allow companies to translate with confidence and reduce the ambiguity that has come with an ever-expanding landscape of AI tools and models.
Here’s a closer look at what’s new.
Replace your MTPE with AI Translation
Traditional translation workflows have long required companies to choose between cost, speed, and quality. Premium human translation is highly accurate but slower and costly; on the other hand, machine translation is quick and budget-friendly but can compromise on quality. Recently, AI solutions, like our AI-powered human translation (AIHT), have helped modernize human translation, making top-level quality translations faster and more affordable. At the same time, custom engine training has made machine translation more reliable when it comes to quality and brand compliance.
Despite the evolution of these translation methods, machine translation post-editing (MTPE) has fallen behind and remained less efficient, lagging in both cost and speed. We wanted to see if we can deliver a replacement for MTPE that relies on machine translation and AI pre- and post-editing to deliver translations of the same quality as this traditional approach. And it turns out, we can.
Introducing the latest innovation from Smartling: AI Translation. Using advanced technology—like adaptive translation, AI post-editing, and real-time quality estimation—AI Translation provides MTPE-level quality at a fraction of the cost. This feature consistently delivers translations with a 95 MQM score, ensuring accuracy and brand alignment, and includes a satisfaction guarantee. If a translation doesn’t meet your expectations, we’ll redo it at no extra cost, giving you peace of mind in both quality and value.
AI Translation completes our set of modernized translation methods. With AIHT, AIT, and our machine translation offerings, companies can achieve their target quality goals while saving on cost and getting to market faster, leaving behind outdated approaches.
The Smartling LQA Suite
As companies manage more content, the demand for streamlined language quality assessment (LQA) is higher than ever. But on top of optimizing workflows and meeting delivery deadlines, LQA can feel overwhelming and has historically required additional manual processes or investment in a new set of tools. We’ve solved all that.
The LQA Suite, now part of our Enterprise platform, is a comprehensive quality assessment solution, built-in to our best-in-class translation management system. From generating samples to reviewing edits, the LQA Suite helps make quality management both efficient and reliable.
The LQA Suite provides users with:
- A dedicated space for quality: No need to worry about production updates interrupting your assessments—a separate LQA environment keeps everything stable and focused.
- Seamless sampling: Easily put together a reliable sample for quality checks. You can even combine content from different projects into one LQA job.
- Streamlined edits: Quickly review all translation changes in bulk, and if needed, “roundtrip” the updates back into your production projects.
Early adopters are obsessed:
“You’ve developed something truly special with the LQA suite, especially the snapshot and round trip features which I haven’t seen from any competitors. Our team is excited, especially as quality management is becoming a key focus for us, and this functionality fills a gap we've long been frustrated by.”
- Smartling user
Whether you're an LQA pro or just diving in, the new LQA Suite makes quality assessment easier and more manageable than ever.
Data Access and Visualization Module
Another highlight of this release is our new Data Access feature. This highly-requested tool gives clients direct access to translation data, easily connecting it with business intelligence tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker. Current data sets include context coverage, fuzzy leverage, job progress, edit distance, and more - with additional data sets being added in the coming months.
With this data, companies can gain fresh insights into translation performance, helping them align localization efforts with broader business goals and KPIs.
These new features mark an exciting new chapter in Smartling’s commitment to advancing AI-powered, high-quality translation. We’re helping enterprises scale their localization efforts with confidence, speed, and cost efficiency.
As we look toward 2025, we’re eager to see how companies utilize these tools to shape the future of translation. In the meantime, we’re continuing to work on new features that will make translating even simpler and smarter. Stay tuned!
